We were very pleased to see Julia Bueno’s article on the Human Givens approach to mental health and wellbeing in the December issue of Therapy Today. It was an excellent piece, except for a few unfortunate factual errors of which I felt it was important to inform you.
Factual errors
We were very pleased to see Julia Bueno’s article on the Human Givens approach to mental health and wellbeing in the December issue of Therapy Today. It was an excellent piece, except for a few unfortunate factual errors of which I felt it was important to inform you.
For instance, the article reported that there are only 120 Human Givens therapists. In fact, there are over 250 fully-qualified HG therapists in private practice and full-time employment, and over 800 people to date have completed the Human Givens diploma and now use the HG approach in their work. A further 50 are taking the diploma at the moment and another 136 people are currently doing the MA in Human Givens Psychotherapy (which is actually a collaborative programme taught by ourselves and Nottingham Trent University). The Human Givens Institute also has well over 1,000 members, not 120 as the article inferred.
For future reference, the name of our principal Ivan Tyrrell, (who is also a co-originator of the HG approach, a frequent keynote speaker at national conferences and co-author of numerous best-selling books), was also spelt incorrectly.Kathy Hardy
