I thought the article ‘To resist is to exist’ in the March issue of Therapy Today was excellent and informative. I don’t agree with the letter of objection in the May issue and was saddened by the signatories’ attack.

The psychological impact of military occupation, whatever the country involved, is a fit subject for therapists, whatever their nationality. It increases our awareness of issues in the wider world and enables us to understand the trauma suffered by victims of these insidious wars, some of whom may end up as our clients.
I do not agree with J Fine, S Gotein and the other signatories that Therapy Today should omit political topics or that it contravenes the BACP Ethical Framework. I would refer them to Barack Obama’s recent speech in Cairo on toleration and understanding of diverse religions and cultures, as the common sense approach to promoting peace.
This article goes some way towards fulfilling his aim. Please continue to uphold your tradition of honest, objective and informative input.
